Hotel Rafael Diagonal Port
The Hotel Rafael Diagonal Port is our favorite place in town to hold international events, particularly those related with new technologies. The hotel is fashionable and comfortable, and it is nicely located in “el Poblenou” in an area that was an important textile and automotive centre in Barcelona. The district was known as “the Little Manchester” due to the textile industry, while the factories where the renowned Hispano-Suiza, the favourite car of the European monarchies and high society until Second World War, were manufactured.
One century after, el Poblenou is changing again thanks to the boost of the 22@ Barcelona project, a commitment to support activities related with the new economy based in knowledge and technology. The 22@ Barcelona is transforming two hundred hectares of industrial ground in an innovative district that offers spaces to new companies coexisting with universities, investigation centres and residential areas.
The hotel, placed in front of the sea, invites to walk by the seafront where the city beaches and some of the nicest bar terraces are found. It is the ideal place to chat, share and enjoy the environment. After a few minutes walk it is the “Port Olímpic” where the avant-guard of the urban design, joins the luxury of yatchs and leisure ships, all this literally surrounded by dozens of pubs, tapas bars and all kinds of restaurants that turn the area in one of the most popular places in the city.
About Barcelona
Barcelona is one of the cities that better combines its dynamism with the Mediterranean warm hospitality. Its open personality is possible not only due to its particular geographic location but also thanks to its history, traditions and many cultural influences that makes up the city as it is today.
The XXI century Barcelona is an European city with a tremendous cultural energy and at the same time passionate by progress. The visitor will probably be surprised by a modern and enterprising metropolis that at the same time keeps many singular areas like its medieval “Barri Gótic” or the multifaceted and implausible Ramblas that constitutes one of the most fascinating streets in the World. And, of course, it cannot be forgotten the incredible modernist architecture that has in Gaudí its maximum exponent.
As the Herald Tribune said recently, Barcelona is an charming jungle of art and artists where the visitor can live first hand experiences. At the end, this is the environment that inspired some of the most brilliant painters of the XX century like Picasso, Dalí, Miró y Tapies. Many of them have here their best museums.
The things to see and do are so many, that is easy to understand that Barcelona is probably the most popular European destination for all kinds of conferences and exhibitions. All this thanks to the wonderful combination of cultural, logistic and business elements together with an always pleasant weather.
